Faine, I Would: A Celebration of 17th century English Music and DanceFAINE I WOULD*
A Celebration of 17th century English Music and Dance.

*the title of an actual dance from the period.
Faine: willingly, with pleasure

The Virginia Academy of Historic Dance and the Wren Masters of the College of William and Mary (learn more) present an exciting original program created especially TO CELEBRATE THE 400TH ANNIVERSARY OF JAMESTOWN.  Through several dramatic vignettes interwoven with music and dance, this engaging program explores the cultural life of 17th-centuy England and Virginia.  Music by Henry Purcell and other composers, country-dances from John Playford’s collections and elegant or comical theatrical dances, as well as a scene from a Restoration comedy will be featured in the production.  This program is generously sponsored by a grant from the Historic Triangle Jamestown 2007 host committee.

Camp Jeep
We have enjoyed contributing to Daimler-Chrysler's annual Camp Jeep at Oakridge by being part of the "Virginia Village", which highlighted major historic sites and attractions in Virginia. Our setting for this program was the year 1859.

Poplar Forest
It has become a Virginia Academy of Historic Dance tradition to spend July 4th every year as part of the festivities at Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest, performing dances of Jefferson's time.

Williamsburg's First Night
Another annual tradition for us is Williamsburg's First Night. We are proud to have been a contributor to the New Year's Eve festivities since it began in 1994. Our programs have been a potpourri of dances from the 17th through the early 20th centuries.
